Fire protection

EN 16989

This test determines the reaction-to-fire of a complete seat, depending on its manufacture method, taking account of laceration, where applicable.

Laceration test at 50 N:

Prior to fire testing, a laceration test with 50 N force is performed on the seat. If the cut length is 50 mm or less, the seat shall be deemed cut-proof.

If the cut length exceeds 50 mm, each layer shall be subjected to a grab test to identify which layers are sufficiently well bonded to be retained during the fire test.

If laceration is effective, two new seats and two cut seats will be fire tested.

If the length of the cut is less than 50mm, the test will be carried out on “new” seats.

Test performed in our laboratory.
